Storing Books

I wish I had room to put them all out in the open, on shelves. But, even if I don't count those mass market paperbacks, I have more than a thousand other books. There aren't really any more walls open for more book shelves. Someday, I hope to move into a house, but until I do, there's really no getting around the fact that I have to store some books in boxes, or crates, or something. And the clear plastic lids on these boxes make it very easy to look through them quickly for the book I want.

I've seen people keeping paperbacks in shelves two deep, as you describe. I've always thought that would make it hard to find some books. Do you find that when you're searching for a book that happens to be in back that it's difficult to find it?

And yes, I have a userpic. 8-) I've had a cheap digital camera for a while, now, but I had put off exploring the logistics of pulling images from the camera and manipulating them under Linux. I really don't use MS Windows at all, at home. Buying Windows feels too much like supporting organized crime, to me. So, it's taken a while for me to establish a userpic.
