New House
I bought a house, Today. in Raymore, Missouri. For those of you who don't know, Raymore is a moderately remote suburb of Kansas City. This means I'll be moving across the state line form Kansas to Missouri, so my vote will have a chance of making a difference, rather than being washed out by the religious, conservative masses in Kansas. Tomorrow, I move most of my stuff into the new house. It's not going to be fun.

Thank you. Now that the adventure of buying is over, I have to move. At least all the books are packed up.

Thanks. It seems odd that I can move 15 miles and be in a whole new state.

doh...for some reason I pictured you on the West Coast as opposed to two states down and a little to the West ;)

I did actually live in California for a couple of years. There's a lot to like about California, but oddly enough, it's almost easier to live with the silly antics of religious conservatives in the mid-west than it is to live with liberal extremism in California. I have an easier time laughing at the silly things they do here, because I don't identify with religious conservatives, and because the really dangerous religious conservatives are in DC, not in Missouri. When the government of California did dumb things it irritated me because it was usually people on my side doing dumb and irresponsible things, and I feel more responsible for that.

Thanks. And the weather is nice. Now if it will continue this way while I move, Today, and then switch over to raining for two weeks so the grass they just transplanted can take root. 8-)

Congrats! But aren't there tons of religious conservatives in Missouri, or does it just seem that way to me because of where I'm from?

Thanks.

And there are too many (i.e. more than zero) religious conservatives in Missouri. They are somewhat balanced by religious moderates, and on the whole the neo-con contingent in Missouri doesn't have free reign. As an example, I think Missouri might have one of those idiotic constitutional amendments banning gay marriage.

But you might note that, before John Ascroft gained his national.. er.. reputation, the citizens of Missouri knowing voted for a dead man rather than elect Ascroft to the U.S. Senate. There's hope for Missouri, and as I mentioned in a comment above, sometimes is easier for me to live with some of the antics of the other side than to tolerate the bad moves of my own side. At least the stupid things the other side does in Missouri are somewhat restrained, here. Kansas has been a little worse, in that regard.

Thanks. I'm typing this from my cell phone. I don't have internet access at home, yet. That's a situation which can't be allowed to stand for long.
